DIDN'T GENE KELLY DO A MOVIE ABOUT THIS?
Last month's free class brought us a young couple with more
than the usual pre-wedding jitters. After four and a half years
of working together at Michael's Arts & Crafts, he as a
stockman and she in custom framing, Matt Cantone and Kelly Alcott
decided to tie the knot. But their wedding date has not been
set. On March 5, Matt leaves for boot camp in Great Lakes, Illinois
where he'll train until September. He enlisted in the Navy and
takes with him our admiration and respect. The dance steps he
learned with Kelly will be replaced with military choreography,
marching in unison. A good-natured student in the free class
teased Matt about having to cut his long hair, but everyone
gave him enthusiastic support for his selfless decision. The
couple does not plan to marry until Matt's return. When asked
if he'd like to add anything to this article, he responded,
"I love Kelly and can't wait to dance with her again."
ANYTHING THIS GOOD DESERVES TO BE
DONE TWICE
Last month we introduced you to Bruce &
Rebecca Brandywine who drove over from Tampa to get two
dance lessons under their belt prior to the February 9 wedding
renewal of vows. If you missed the story, you can read it
by clicking on the link to past newsletters. The Brandywines
wrote us a beautiful note that we'd like to share. Here
they are dancing to "Tonight I Celebrate My Love."
"We want to thank you for having such a huge part in
making our special night turn out so well. The wedding dance
was perfect! We had so many people compliment us and say
things like "Did you take lessons?" Even the DJ
announced that it was very well done and came over to our
table and said "Just a few lessons huh?" We actually
did our choreographed dance twice: once for the first dance
and also the very last song of the night. We are so happy
that all those long hours on the road really did pay off.
We do wish you guys were closer so we could learn more.
We will not forget you. You helped make our renewal of vows
celebration absolutely perfect!"
Best wishes to you, Bruce & Rebecca. We'll never forget
you either! |

UPDATE ON TREY MAXWELL'S BONE MARROW TRANSPLANT
Thank you to so many people who responded
to our e.mail blast and donated blood, platelets or
sent their prayers to Trey, his brother Cole, and
his parents, Scott & Nicole Meier. Much has happened
since then. The brothers underwent surgery on February
11 which |
apparently
was the easier part. Nicole kept us posted on the
boys' conditions:
"Well, keep the prayers, well wishes and positive
vibes coming our way because they are working. Trey's
new bone marrow is engrafting and making new white
blood cells! It takes between 12-25 days for cells
to start and he started growing cells on the 12th
day. He still
has a very long road ahead of bringing his immune
system up to speed as it is still very
very very vulnerable and we still will need to be
in isolation but he is doing the work and Cole's bone
marrow is settling in just fine so far! We have a
lot to be grateful for. Because Trey received a sibling
matched donor, his engraftment only took 12 days,
we have passed kids on the floor who were transplanted
before us with unrelated donors who still do not show
cells. THANK YOU COLEY! I have gotten lots of messages
from people who would
like to see Trey. We love knowing how much everyone
wants to see him but even though
we will be home by the end of May, Trey's immune system
will not be up to speed for many more months to follow.
What this means is basically he cannot go anywhere
without a mask and cannot be exposed to the general
public any more than is absolutely necessary for medical
care. "
Cole is doing fine and was back at school shortly
after the procedure. He suffered very little discomfort
thankfully. So the Meier family is doing as well as
could possibly be hoped for at this point. |
